The Iceberg
Justice seems no where. These crimes are committed daily and, for the most part, go unnoticed and unpunished. When victims raise their voice, they are mostly hushed.
What happens as a result of society quietly unrecognizing these atrocities is that the victim takes on this added burden and questions what wrong they did.
If you find the courage to tell your story, some might listen to you, nod their head in slight uncomfortable disapproval of your disclosure and then hope you go quiet again quickly.
Don’t let another person hold you back from telling your story. Do not let them make you feel like it was your fault.
It was not your fault.
Society seems to victimize us even more.
Not so in the kingdom of God! When God became man, he was called the Word. The spoken word is shared with no other creation but man. Our voice was created to be used. It’s not our fault that our stories are unnatural and wicked — we just showed up!
Most people I meet that have a faith tell me that they hear God speaking to them, “Tell your story.” It’s not easy, for sure, but it is a mandatory piece of unraveling our life story and making a better path for ourselves.
Don’t be drawn into the burden of taking care of the person next to you. WHAT THEY THINK OF YOU IS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS.
We all know the proverbial tip of the iceberg metaphor. It is a phrase commonly used to refer to situations in which we are seeing only a small part of what is really a much bigger issue.
The #metoo movement was a fantastic start holding abusers accountable. Why don’t we start a #UCU movement where we all, collectively, start sharing our stories? By seeing yourself (you see you) so much can accomplished.
A gathering of spoken stories to heal and push back the forces of darkness.
