Introspection — what better way to start a week.

Question: If you could ask God for justice, what would that ask be?

Witnessing a murder as a child before my mind had time to calculate revenue has left a gaping wound in me. Never hugged after the violent cruelty was displayed before me. No one even asked if I was okay that day or any day thereafter.

Justice — What would that look like to me?

That the dead woman be returned to her family with an appropriate burial service where we acknowledged her existence and stood by as witness to her death. Would that ease my troubled mind around this?

I think it might.

Father, I pray for my family as they stand in the way of settling this issue by not allowing an excavation and unearthing this murder victim. Not a kind act can be found in them. If they don’t love me — couldn’t they find it in their heart to be kind to this dead lady?

What would justice look like to you?
