Don’t Let Anyone Take You Hostage

You have trusted in your wickedness
and have said, ‘No one sees me.’
Your wisdom and knowledge mislead you
when you say to yourself,
‘I am, and there is none besides me.’

Isaiah 47:8

When my father died, I am told that he let out two great big terrifying screams. I had just left him hours earlier and knew I wouldn’t be there for his passing.

Abusers believe in themselves. They believe in their ability to tell their wicked stories. They spin and weave denial around people in a crafty plot to never get caught. Sadly, the vast majority never do get caught. Even if their victims talk, seldom is anything done about it, particularly in the case of incest.

I see a very wicked thing is all of this.

As I’ve said and will say many times again, they are better at telling their lies then most of us are at telling the truth.

When I spend time with God, he shows me time and time again that I must never allow anyone to take me hostage — again. To stay free from their webs I must stay with the truth, I must honor and acknowledge my memories and I have got see the abusers for who and what they are.

Oh, the plight of minimization! When we minimize — they’re winning. In other words, we’re being held hostage — again.

I want to take the blessed road. The road less traveled, as they say. Oh, the abusers? They will mock me but I don’t sit in their company anymore.
