Thanksgiving is almost upon us and I have much to be thankful for. But, it’s not always easy to find my thankful hat. I always come back to a place where I find gratitude and favor in life, but I can’t help walking through or over the rubble that incest left in my life.

Love says it’s sorry. Period.

I was stopped in place last week with the evidence of coming from no love. I hear folks around me talk about the depth of sorrow they feel when they lose a parent or a sibling. Unfortunately, that’s just not true for me. As many times as I tried to make it so, they just don’t love. And, that means, they just don’t love me.

I think it’s one of the deepest tragedies of coming out of a house of incest. By the time a person can give themselves over to such injustice, deceit and thievery, and abuse a child, there isn’t much good left in that person.

But, this post is about being thankful! Thanksgiving is here and I am abundantly thankful for so many things.

While we must walk the truth of our lives and stay steady on the road that brings us through to healing, we can do it with the concept of gratitude. Exchanging the deathly content of our past, into a righteous future.

Righteousness refers to a moral aspect of God’s nature, his perfect purity and justice.

That’s all we need — is Him! So, this holiday season practice putting your mind on the good things in life.

Finally, brothers and sisters,

whatever is true,

whatever is noble,

whatever is right,

whatever is pure,

whatever is lovely,

whatever is admirable-

if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-think about such things.

This image looks much like the property they buried the murdered woman on. I’m thankful that I got to meet her and spend time with her before she was killed. She was a kind lady and made sure I was seen in that room.

I’m making sure she is seen now.
